"Ships at a distance have every man’s wish on board. For some they come in with the tide. For others they sail forever on the horizon, never out of sight, never landing until the Watcher turns his eyes away in resignation, his dreams mocked to death by Time. That is the life of men. Now, women forget all those things they don’t want to remember and remember everything they don’t want to forget. The dream is the truth. Then they act and do things accordingly. (1.1-2) "
I chose this website because the audio loaded up faster than others. It's also very slow and easier to understand. Although I read the book on my own, it was a struggle with black vernacular content but having it be read to you by someone is way easier to understand.

Their Eyes Were Watching God Written By: Zora Neale Hurston

B i b l i o g r a p h y

I chose this site of all the others as her bibliography because, this narrowed down to the key points in her life. Literally, the main things that you need to know are in this reading article. Here is one of the best websites for the biography of Zora Neale Hurston.

"The wind came back with triple fury, and put out the light for the last time. They sat in company with the others in other shanties, their eyes straining against crude walls and their souls asking if He meant to measure their puny might against His. They seemed to be staring at the dark, but their eyes were watching God."

Cartoon

http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/2011-01-20/entertainment/os-cal-cover-zora-neale-hurston-story20110120_1_haitian-art-nathiri-east-kennedy-boulevard

I decided to choose these two cartoons. The one on the left portrays the celebration of restoring Haiti after the earthquake. The cartoon on the left was one to represent Zora Neale Hurston's time spent in Haiti. The idea was to portray the connections that Zora made with the Haitian culture. And for the cartoon on the right, was to portray Zora's pride in black history.

This movie was released on March 6, 2005, bases upon Zora Neale Hurston's 1937 novel "THeir Eyes Were Watching God".  The film was directed by Darnell Martin, and produced my Oprah Winfrey's Harpo Productions. I watched a little clip of this video and the beginning followed the book is a very significant way.

These are other video on inspired musical pieces from the novel "Their Eyes Were Watching God".
